About the Maker:
St. Nicolas is a London based company that has spent the last 30 years providing women in rural Thailand the opportunity to work near home to support their families, instead of needing to travel into the city. As the business grew, St. Nicolas expanded their production to India, where their native team continues to embellish pieces using the zardozi method of embroidery. Zardozi is a highly skilled technique that became popular in 12th century India and was reserved for embellishing courtly robes with gold wire and jewels.
Today, St. Nicolas has a team of over 200 skilled women hand-sewing each piece they sell. With these unique felt ornaments you can showcase your very own. One ornament depicts Nathaniel Hawthorne holding a copy of his iconic novel, The Scarlett Letter, while the other has Hester Prynne, a character from the novel, adorned with the infamous red letter “A.”
Each ornament is sold separately.
