Description
Enter the private world of Nathaniel Hawthorne with Twenty Days with Julian & Little Bunny. This concise, 74-page book, presents a collection of Hawthorne’s personal notebook recordings of his time spent with his five-year-old son, Julian. During the summer of 1851, Hawthorne’s wife Sophia and their two daughters, Una and Rose, embarked on a visit to relatives in Boston, leaving Hawthorne and Julian behind in their Western Massachusetts home for three precious weeks of swimming, stone-skipping, and deep conversations with friends like Herman Melville.
Within the text are photographs of Hawthorne’s original manuscript, some pages covered in young Julian’s scribbles. Each Nathaniel Hawthorne book is stamped saying “Purchased from the House of the Seven Gables,” and with a facsimile of his signature from our archives.
