Letters

Hawthorne was notorious for burning much of his correspondence. This makes any sizable collection of his letters a treasure. Among these collections, the most famous are his love letters.

This sampling of Hawthorne’s letters offer a glimpse at the personal life of the great author. They have been transcribed as written.
