Pewter was an important part of life for the American colonists. As settlers journeyed from England in the 17th century, they carried an assortment of pewter items, including dishes, tankards, bowls, and spoons. Many of these items also made their way to the House of the Seven Gables. Pewter wares are found listed on the probate records for each of the home’s owners, from John Turner II in the early-1700s to Susannah Ingersoll in the mid-1800s.
