Join us as we welcome Carl Carlsen, former lecturer at North Shore Community College, as he presents his most recent work, “Brickyard Stories 2.0: A Lynn MA Neighborhood Before and After Urban Renewal.” Carlsen taught in Lynn for 37 years, and over that time saw the numerous changes that took place in the area and with the people. Thinking of all the stories that must exist from residents old and new, he wanted to record and share them for posterity. Out of this came his first book, “Brickyard Stories: A Neighborhood and its Traditions” — which was published in 1985 by NSCC. Much has changed since that first book, so as a follow-up Carlsen wrote “Brickyard Stories 2.0: A Lynn MA Neighborhood Before and After Urban Renewal” which was published in 2021. Carlsen will be sharing images and anecdotes from his research and the book.
