Description

In these early photographs of the dining room, taken by Caroline Emmerton, we can see chinoiserie wallpaper and the same Hepplewhite-style sideboard that resides there today. Note the subtle differences in the photos from the 1910s to the 1920s. It is possible for one to see that the front hall was lit by a window in the 1910s.  This window was covered over when Caroline Emmerton expanded the cent shop around 1922. The third picture also displays a portrait of Susanna Ingersoll and the Chippendale chairs that supposedly belonged to her.
