The Front Hall in the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion
Description
Although not the grandest of spaces, the front hall of the mansion served as a vital crossroads for both family members and visitors moving through the home. Changes to the space have been well-documented. In these photos one can see the elaborate architectural-print wallpaper known as “Cervera,” a sample of which is in our archives. Note, too, the change in the Cent Shop between the 1910 and c.1924 photographs. In the c.1900 image, you can just catch a glimpse of the dining room as it looked when the Upton family lived in the home. This photo is unique in being the only image of the dining room from this period.
