Description

During the 1909-1910 Joseph Chandler restoration of the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion, the Cent Shop was added by the front door. Although such a shop never existed in the house in reality, the addition of “Hephzibah’s shop” brought the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion closer to the fictional home described in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s  novel The House of the Seven Gables.
