On Sunday, February 9 at 2 P.M., The House of the Seven Gables invites you to Steeped in History: Love Brews Here!
Enjoy an afternoon tea service catered by the Vintage Tea & Cake Company, including a variety of teas, finger sandwiches, and sweets. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, there will be a staged reading of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s love letters. Delve into the romantic courtship between Nathaniel Hawthorne and his wife Sophia Peabody, and explore his beloved friendship with fellow author Herman Melville in letters sent during the creations of The House of the Seven Gables and Moby Dick. Attendees will also have the opportunity to decorate a custom hand fan to take home and learn the secret language of the fan.
Tickets are $70 for Gables members and $85 for non-members. Proceeds from the event benefit preservation and education at The Gables.

PLEASE NOTE: This event takes place during The House of the Seven Gables’ annual shutdown. Access to the Visitor Center will be permitted to those with Steeped in History tickets.
