During Salem Heritage Days, we will be offering various programs on site and off that highlight some of the maritime connections here at the museum.

Come join us during Salem Heritage Days, where we will offer family programming that includes our ‘Living History Labs’ featuring hands-on activities based on early 20th-century Settlement House programs, a family-friendly navigational activity for the adventurous visitor, and other exciting events.   Activities and programs will change daily and be available during operating hours.  The museum will be open from 10:00am – 7:00pm, please see below for a daily schedule of events.

Saturday, August 13

  • 10:00-1:00 & 2:00-5:00 – The Civil War Revenue Cutter Service, Forerunner to the U.S. Coast Guard with Joe Colleti (The Counting House)
  • 10:00-6:00 – Family Navigation Game (Grounds & Gardens) {Ports 4 & 5 closed due to wedding}
  • 10:30-1:00 – Living History Lab:
    • Skill with a Quill (Hooper-Hathaway Great Room)
    • Navigational Tools (Near the Hawthorne House)
  • 2:00-4:30 – Living History Lab:
    • 17th Century Food (AV Room)
    • Navigational Tools (Near the Hawthorne House)

**  Families can pick up their materials packet for the Family Navigation Game at the Admissions Desk. **
