Hawthorne’s work has inspired Hollywood since 1908. Join us at The House of the Seven Gables as we roll out the red carpet and explore three of these films as part of our POP! Goes The Gables exhibition.

Meet filmmaker Ben Wickey and learn about his award-winning stop-animation short that has been on the festival circuit for the past year.

Thursday, September 5 at 6:30 p.m.

This version of the gothic romance stars George Sanders, Margaret Lindsay, and Vincent Price. A showing of Vincent Price’s guided tour of The Gables will kick off the evening.

 

 

 

 

 

The Scarlet Letter (1926)
Friday, October 4 at 6:30 p.m.

The silent version of the film will have a unique piano accompaniment by Peter Krasinski. After the film, Nancy Schultz, a professor of English at Salem State University, will have a conversation with the audience.
