Date: July 31 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Andover clock expert, Bob Frishman, to hear the enlightening story of how Salem told time during its early years. No clocks or watches came with the Pilgrims and Puritans, but decades later there were ticking clocks in local towers and homes, all set on bright days by sundials and “noon marks”.

Bob recently donated his services to restore our antique grandfather and lantern clocks to good running order — we probably will hear their bells during his lecture — and he will describe the work he did to bring them back to life. This educational, entertaining, and non-technical program includes more than one hundred images showing early New England clocks and the places they stood.

Directly after the presentation, Bob will offer verbal descriptions and “Roadshow” valuations for old clocks and watches brought in by the audience (no battery-powered or plug-ins, please).

For more information about Bob’s forty-plus years as a “horologist”, studying and practicing the science of timekeeping, visit www.bell-time.com

Free to Gables members and their guests.
