A New World Order? How Russia’s War in Ukraine Changes Geopolitics

Emily Channell-Justice is the Director of the Temerty Contemporary Ukraine Program at the Ukrainian Research Institute, Harvard University. She is a sociocultural anthropologist who has been doing research in Ukraine since 2012.

A New World Order? How Russia’s War in Ukraine Changes Geopolitics

Russia’s war in Ukraine has entered its eighth month. Despite the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and major unrest in Russia, there is little indication that Vladimir Putin will soon end the war. What explains his motivations, and how have Ukrainians fought back? How is Ukraine distinct from Russia, and why can’t Putin accept its independence? Emily’s presentation will explain the background of the invasion, look at Ukraine’s history, and discuss potential future outcomes for Ukraine and the world. Enjoy Ukrainian pastries and a hot beverage. A wonderful assortment of Ukrainian crafts and items from the Odessa Art Museum gift shop will be on sale. Event is free. All donations go to Dobro New England to provide humanitarian support for the people of Ukraine.
