Mother Nature is going to be in full effect in New England this weekend. We are keeping an eye on Henri and how it will impact Salem and your visit to The Gables on Sunday and Monday.
Update: Sunday 1:45 p.m.
- We are sold out of our Guided Tour Package for Sunday, 8/22. We will close at 2:30 p.m. due to staffing issues.
- Guided Tour Package tickets for Monday, 8/23 have been put back onto our website for advance purchase.
- Our historic site is fairing well. We’ve had some downpours and strong wind gusts, but nothing detrimental. We’re continuing to keep an eye on Henri as the storm moves northwest from us.
Update: Sunday 9:00 a.m.
- We will open our site in a limited capacity from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. today. Only the Guided Tour Package is available for visitors and will include a tour of the mansion, exploration in the Nathaniel Hawthorne Birthplace, and a trip to our Museum Store. Please note: the Museum Store will be closed at 2:30 today. Last tour tickets are available at 2:30.
- We plan to reopen for normal operations on Monday. When confirmed, tickets will be available on our website.
Update: Saturday 8/21 6:00 p.m.
- We have prepared our historic site for Henri’s arrival. Our preservation team is assessing the storm path and will ensure our historic site is secure.
- Today, we secured collections in our historic interiors and areas with known water intrusion in heavy storms.
- We are planning to stay open on Sunday and Monday, but will make updates here if those plans should change.
- We have removed the ability to purchase online tickets for Sunday and Monday. If the storm doesn’t force closure, those tickets will be available for sale on Sunday and Monday respectively.
- We have reached out to people who purchased tickets for Sunday and Monday with options for refunds or to reschedule their visit.
