We have some wonderful plans in store for the coming week!
Last week’s update from The House of the Seven Gables certainly wasn’t our sunniest news. Our remaining staff members are working hard to keep YOU engaged – whether you want to visit us in-person or virtually.
We are actively planning for the start of Phase 3 in Massachusetts, which is when museums can reopen. As you might have read, we do NOT anticipate opening our historic buildings this year. Based on staff and visitor feedback, The Gables will be focused on a garden and grounds experience. This will be a wonderful opportunity to soak in our American story while enjoying our historic exteriors via a 30-minute audio tour. Visitors will also receive a map with even more historic information and a link to enjoy the Virtual Tour of the famed Turner-Ingersoll Mansion. We’ll be reopening our Visitor Center and Museum Store in the coming weeks, too! Stay tuned for all of the details.
We wanted to thank our awesome members who took a virtual garden tour with our Visitor Services Specialist, Will Demick. It was great to “see” all of you and be able to share a live-streamed experience. Be sure to mark your calendars and pick up your tickets for the Seaside Soiree on July 23. This is a member-exclusive, after-hours event. Not a member? You’re invited to join us, support our mission, and enjoy all of the perks!
A very important birthday is coming up on July 4 – Mr. Nathaniel Hawthorne. As we continue to work on our visitor experience, the fame of Hawthorne’s writing remains a cornerstone of what we do. Be sure to check our Facebook and Twitter accounts this week for some writing-related activities for all ages in honor of this special day.
We’re looking forward to two additional live stream events in early July. Local historian Irene Axelrod will be sharing the life and times of Lydia Pinkham on July 1. Tickets for this are sold out, but we will make the lecture available to all later this summer. We’re also very excited to announce that our Full Moon Yoga partnership with Wild Sea Wellness is a go for July 6! There is an in-person and virtual option available for this event.
