Miller is an author, national correspondent for the National Review, and director of the Dow Journalism Program at Hillsdale College in Michigan. Kelly Scott Franklin is a professor at Hillsdale College with a lifelong love of American literature. This is a great overview of Hawthorne’s potential inspirations for the novel.
