What’s Happening This Week?

We’ve had a great week here at The Gables. We’re making real headway with the HVAC office in the Phippen House. This building houses our onsite caretaker and provides office space for about half of our staff. It’s nice to see our site slowly warming up as the tempertures dip!

We are excitedly awaiting the final draft of our interpretive plan from our friends at ObjectIDEA. A committee of 12 staff members and our consultants spent a good part of 2018 looking at the way we share our history and stories with our visitors. While we recognize that we are lucky to make a lot of people very happy, we can always improve. Once we receive this report, we’ll be testing out some ideas on YOU, gathering your feedback, and budgeting to make some exciting changes at our site!

It’s a little later than we’d like it, but our 2019 Calendar of Events is just about completed! Visiting with the kids? We’ve got activities! Love exhibits? Our new one opens on April 5. Want to learn more about pop culture? Don’t miss our Seven Lectures at Seven Gables. It’s going to be one heck of a fun year to learn with us!

On Sunday, we’ll be welcoming Lynn residents home to The Gables! We’ll be open from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Just bring along proof of residency and your admission is on us! Plus, you’ll be home in plenty of time to watch the big game!

Our Winter Family Deal is in effect through March 31. Beat the winter blues with a cozy historic house tour at The House of the Seven Gables! We’re excited to offer up to two free children/students with each paid, full price adult or senior admission. This offer is good daily through  March 31, 2019. To take advantage of this offer, you must either show the digital or print version of this blog post. Limit four free children/students per party. Adult admission must be paid at full-price ($16) with no discounts. Cannot be combined with any other offers.

Finally, we are excited to see our furloughed friends back at Salem Maritime National Historic Site. The Visitor Center is open for business and all other offerings are on their winter schedule.
