Marketing Intern

Position Title: Marketing Intern                                                         Date: February 2025

Reports to: Marketing and Communications Manager                    FLSA: Temp

 

Position Overview: The Marketing Intern will work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to assist in the maintenance of annual master planning documentation for the Marketing and Programming departments. This position focuses largely on data gathering and requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organization, and attention to detail. In this role, the Marketing Intern will learn about the sorts of advertising outlets most often used by North Shore non-profits, the value of a well-organized annual marketing plan, budget management and social media non-profit guidelines. This is an eight-week position for 16 hours per week.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Reach out to advertising publications, websites, consortiums and other groups with which The Gables advertises to collect updated deadlines, design specifications, and pricing. Enter into master Advertising calendar/budget.
  • Assist the Marketing and Communications Manager with marketing calendar by reviewing event and programming calendars and inputting marketing related needs (links, images, copy, launch dates, etc.) and deadlines into a comprehensive marketing calendar.
  • Update website “Events” page and usual media outlets.
  • Provide inspiration and occasionally author social media posts (no more than one per week).
  • Mine programming data for analysis; Compile in Excel for easy reference.

 

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate course for marketing, advertising, communications, or a similar field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain organized and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Attention to detail while managing multiple projects at once.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and website software.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Constant use of speech, hearing, and sight abilities.
  • Must comply with department dress code and meet established grooming and hygiene standards.

 

Compensation: 

$17/hr. This is an eight-week position for 16 hours per week.
