SUMMARY:Vines of Courage
DESCRIPTION:A documentary film screening to support Ukraine\nWinemaking is one of many Ukrainian industries to suffer from the 2022 Russian invasion. The documentary “Wounded Land: The Unbroken Spirit of Ukraine” will be screened which tells the stories of Ukrainian vintners and farmers working to keep their entrepreneurial spirits alive.  \nParticipants will receive a commemorative wine glass with a pour of Artwine white sec sparkling wine (90 pt rating James Suckling) from some of the last bottles rescued prior to the fall of Bakhmut.  \nUkrainian wines\, some of the last in the US\, will be available for donation in a wine pull\, as well as an auction of rare bottles. DESCRIPTION:The House of the Seven Gables has many stories to tell\, but we can only tell so many on our usual tour. Join The Gables for a special “Behind the Scenes” tour where you will get into spaces the public generally isn’t allowed\, hear some of the lesser-known stories\, and enjoy The Gables like few ever have! \n  \nThis is a 90-minute tour in which you will be standing and walking on uneven floors\, ducking\, and maneuvering through areas with limited lighting. Hard hats and flashlights will be provided and are required. A waiver will be presented to you upon your arrival. Throughout history\, female artists have played a vital role in shaping artistic expression\, and this session will highlight their diverse talents and achievements. \n  \nThis lecture aims to provide a platform for recognizing the often-overlooked contributions of women in the arts\, highlighting their importance in both Ukrainian history and contemporary culture. Join us for an engaging exploration of creativity\, resilience\, and the powerful narratives woven through the artworks of Ukrainian women. \n  \nAll funds go to Dobro New England to support humanitarian aid to Ukraine. \n  \n> Click here to register <\n  \nAbout the Presenter \nOleksandra Kovalchuk is the Deputy Director of the Odesa National Fine Arts Museum in Ukraine and the founder of the NGO Museum for Change\, which provides support for the protection of museum collections across Ukrainian institutions. Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine\, she has been residing in Salem. \nOver the past few years\, actively engaged in promoting Ukrainian culture at various institutions\, including Boston University\, NJ University\, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts\, the Peabody Essex Museum\, the Ogunquit Museum of American Art\,\, Heritage Museums and Gardens and The House of Seven Gables
