DESCRIPTION:A wonderful\, fun family event co-sponsored by The House of the Seven Gables and the City of Salem’s Park\, Recreation and Community Services Department. All children must be accompanied by an adult. \n  \nDate: Saturday\, February 8\, 2025\nTime: 1:00-3:00pm\nPlace: The House of the Seven Gables \nOur Valentine event will include: \n– An outdoor scavenger hunt featuring chocolate facts and historical facts about The House of the Seven Gables. As this will be outdoors\, please dress accordingly. \n– Free ground passes to the historic site.* \n– A Valentine’s workshop with local artist Linda Abbene in The Gables’ Visitor Center. Come make a valentine card for someone special. Please note that the workshop will be held from 1:00-2:30pm. \n– Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. \n  \nThis is a free event; however\, pre-registration is encouraged in order to have enough supplies. \n  \n>> Click for more details and registration << \n  \n*PLEASE NOTE: This event takes place during The House of the Seven Gables’ annual shutdown. DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, February 9 at 2 P.M.\, The House of the Seven Gables invites you to Steeped in History: Love Brews Here! \n  \nEnjoy an afternoon tea service catered by the Vintage Tea & Cake Company\, including a variety of teas\, finger sandwiches\, and sweets. In celebration of Valentine’s Day\, there will be a staged reading of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s love letters. Delve into the romantic courtship between Nathaniel Hawthorne and his wife Sophia Peabody\, and explore his beloved friendship with fellow author Herman Melville in letters sent during the creations of The House of the Seven Gables and Moby Dick. Attendees will also have the opportunity to decorate a custom hand fan to take home and learn the secret language of the fan. \n  \nTickets are $70 for Gables members and $85 for non-members. We’ll also examine how these themes continue to resonate in contemporary Ukrainian art. \nWhether you are an art enthusiast\, a history buff\, or simply curious about the intersection of love and creativity\, this lecture promises to provide thought-provoking insights and a deeper appreciation of Ukrainian culture. \n  \nAll funds go to Dobro New England to support humanitarian aid to Ukraine. \n  \n> Click here to register <\n  \nAbout the Presenter \nOleksandra Kovalchuk is the Deputy Director of the Odesa National Fine Arts Museum in Ukraine and the founder of the NGO Museum for Change\, which provides support for the protection of museum collections across Ukrainian institutions. Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine\, she has been residing in Salem. \nOver the past few years\, actively engaged in promoting Ukrainian culture at various institutions\, including Boston University\, NJ University\, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts\, the Peabody Essex Museum\, the Ogunquit Museum of American Art\,\, Heritage Museums and Gardens and The House of Seven Gables
