All children must be accompanied by an adult. \n  \nDate: Saturday\, February 10\, 2024\nTime: 1:00-3:00pm\nPlace: The House of the Seven Gables \n  \nOur Valentine event will include: \n* An outdoor scavenger hunt featuring chocolate facts and historical facts about The House of the Seven Gables. As this will be outdoors\, please dress accordingly. \n* Free ground passes to the historic site. \n* A Valentine’s workshop with local artist Linda Abbene in the Visitor Center. Come make a valentine card for someone special. DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to announce the return of our partnership with Salem Arts Association leading up to this year’s Salem Arts Festival. From May 15th to May 30th we will be hosting Salem Arts’ artists on our grounds\, allowing them to create works inspired by our historic houses\, gardens\, and seaside location. We encourage our visitors to engage with the artists and learn more about their creative process. \nThis residency will be capped with an exhibition of the pieces created on the grounds on Thursday\, June 1st from 6 to 8 p.m. The works will then be exhibited at Salem Arts Association during Salem Arts Festival.

This lecture will look at the material world that surrounded her as evidenced by a record of her expenses during her widowhood and the inventory of her estate. SUMMARY:The Women of The House of the Seven Gables and their Community
DESCRIPTION:March is National Women’s History Month and we are excited to be hosting The House of the Seven Gables board member\, Robin Woodman\, who will be presenting a lecture entitled The Women of The House of the Seven Gables and their Community. Woodman’s lecture will focus on the Turner women\, who occupied the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion from 1668 until 1782 when the house was purchased by Captain Samuel Ingersoll. She will also touch on the Ingersoll women and The House of the Seven Gables Settlement Association founder Caroline Emmerton. All of these women played a role in the Salem community and witnessed many important moments in history. \nRobin Woodman is a local historian who grew up on Forrester St in Salem\, attending afterschool programs at The Gables Settlement Association.
