In celebration of Valentine’s Day\, there will be a staged reading of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s love letters. Delve into the romantic courtship between Nathaniel Hawthorne and his wife Sophia Peabody\, and explore his beloved friendship with fellow author Herman Melville in letters sent during the creations of The House of the Seven Gables and Moby Dick. Attendees will also have the opportunity to decorate a custom hand fan to take home and learn the secret language of the fan. \n  \nTickets are $70 for Gables members and $85 for non-members. DESCRIPTION:Sophia Peabody Hawthorne’s painting “Flight Into Egypt” has been restored and is returning to The House of the Seven Gables! \n  \nOn Saturday December 2 at 4 p.m. there will be a reception with a short presentation about the conservation process and what was learned during it in the Seamans Visitor Center\, followed by an unveiling of the restored work in the parlor of the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion. Period and season-appropriate refreshments will be served. It will be a festive kick-off to the holiday season! This event is free\, but registration is required and donations are encouraged.* \n  \n*All donations will go towards The Gables’ Collections Fund.
