Sheet Music
Description
This collection of sheet music, published by Henry O. Upton in 1892 while a resident of the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion, takes inspiration from the novel The House of the Seven Gables and the history of Salem. It contains the musical notations for three dances – the “Pyncheon Lane Caprice,” “The Caper,” and a Galop entited “The Cricket.” Sadly our copy is missing the elusive “The Cricket.” The cover prominently features the mansion as it appeared before restoration, but incorrectly claims that the house was built in 1662 (it was built in 1668).
