Description
A photograph of the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion and Counting House (c.1830) shortly after the 1909-1910 restoration. The Counting House is typical of the small buildings which dotted the working waterfront, and was where ship captains and supercargoes (people responsible for cargo and its sale) completed much of their business. This is the earliest photograph of the counting house that we have and shows the structure at its original location near the center of the gardens.
