Description
This postcard depicts the Turner-Ingersoll mansion from the “rear” or garden side of the building after the restoration efforts of architect Joseph Chandler in 1909-1910. Chandler, working with Caroline Emmerton to restore the house to its perceived late 17th century appearance, also designed the layout of the grounds. Today’s beautiful Colonial Revival style gardens took their inspiration from this layout in Chandler’s designs. Also seen in this postcard is the Counting House at it’s original location.
