Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and here at The Gables we are happy to be supporting the It Starts with ME! 14th annual turkey drive. This program aims to provide Thanksgiving meals to local families and Veterans in need during the holidays. They also help to stock local food pantries.
Melanie McKinnon began her annual Turkey Drives in 2006 and has provided thousands of Thanksgiving meals over the years. It Starts with ME! works throughout the year in Salem and the North Shore to benefit the local community through fundraising and food, furniture, clothing, and toy drives. In 2010 Melanie was name to Salem News’s North Shore 100 in recognition of her enormous impact within the community.
Thanks to supply chain issues plaguing all levels of retail, including groceries, turkeys are harder to come by and more expensive than ever before. Only one week out from the holiday, It Starts with ME! still needs to raise just under 3000 dollars to provide turkeys for the Thanksgiving meals.
It Starts with ME! is based locally in Salem, MA, and is still accepting physical donations until Friday, November 19th at 2C Fletcher Way, Salem. Monetary donations can be made through www.iswmcharity.com.
