A message from the Executive Director
Happy New Year! Finally, the year 2020 is behind us and a new year has begun. And while we know 2021 will continue to hold many challenges for all of us, hope is in the air.
As you may know, The House of the Seven Gables is currently closed to the public and may remain closed for several weeks. We are, of course, disappointed that we cannot welcome our members and visitors in person. The team at The Gables is not hibernating. We are taking advantage of this gift of time to work on some important projects that might otherwise be difficult to accomplish.
Our to-do list is full and includes preservation and maintenance projects inside our historic buildings; interpretive projects focused on themed tour development; virtual programming and events; and continued work processing and digitizing our archives. Thanks to funding from the Van Otterloo Family Foundation, we are also preparing to resume our in-person ESL and citizenship classes as soon as possible. We can’t wait to see our students again!
We hope you enjoy this newsletter and our many updates. We’re grateful for all of the support we have received in 2020 from a wonderful corps of volunteers, grant funders, and community partners.
As always, we remain grateful for your continued friendship and support and wish you and all those you care about the healthiest and happiest new year.
