We are excited to announce our current visitor experience at The House of the Seven Gables – starting on Friday, July 10!
2020 is not short on pivots, changes, and surprises! We have been reviewing the Reopening Massachusetts Phase 3 guidelines and are excited to announce a more robust reopening plan for The House of the Seven Gables.
The 2020 Gardens and Grounds experience will allow the greatest number of people to enjoy our history and stories in 2020 in a safer, outdoor experience. We have been working on a brand new audio tour of our gardens and grounds that will be released on Friday. You’ll learn about each of our buildings, get sneak peeks into some interior spaces, and learn about how The Gables was built by maritime wealth, made popular by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and saved by service to Salem.
Our Visitor Center will be reopening. Ticket holders will have access to one of our best exhibits, These Walls Do Talk, restrooms, and information about the site.
The starting cost for the 2020 experience is $7/person/all ages. Hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Friday – Tuesday. Our shortened hours will allow us to clean and disinfect our historic site to be able to serve you as safely as possible.
Visitors should note that the following regulations are in place:
- Face coverings are required for the duration of your visit
- You must maintain social distance from other household groups
- Keep those hands clean! Practice excellent hand hygiene during your visit
We know these regulations aren’t for everyone and if these don’t work for you, please plan to see us on your next trip to Salem.
Our Museum Store is open! The store is located in the historic Becket house and is full of charming gifts, well-written books, and treats for all ages. We can allow up to six shoppers at a time in the store and the above regulations also apply. Shoppers will self-wrap/pack their items to prevent cross-contamination.
Weddings and Events:
In 2020, we’re offering our Twice-Told-Tale wedding package. Starting at $500, you can have exclusive access to our historic site for you and a limited number of guests. Don’t put off your special date! Ceremony now…celebrate later! Let us be a part of your tale!
