The sweetest week of the year is upon us – Salem’s So Sweet! We are so excited to partner with our neighbors at Ye Olde Pepper Candie Companies to offer up a candy themed ice sculpture this year. Besides an awesome day of watching all of the sculptures go up, on Saturday night take another wander and watch them all light up!
Besides the sculpture, we’re offering free grounds passes all weekend. This is a great chance to take our free audio tour of the grounds and learn something new. While there isn’t enough snow for our liking, you can still get out there and enjoy some fresh air, harbor views, and even a peek into the birth home of Nathaniel Hawthorne. We’ll also be offering a 10% discount in our Museum Store when you bring in your Salem’s So Sweet brochure and we’ve got gifts galore for your Valentine!
From 1:00 – 3:o0 on Saturday, we’ll be offering cookie decorating and Valentine craft making in our Visitor Center. Both events are free, but registration is required for the crafts with Salem Parks, Recreation, and Community Services.
On Sunday, we’ll be welcoming Marblehead residents for FREE to The Gables. Take a tour, explore the grounds, and enjoy Salem’s So Sweet events. Just bring along a proof of residency and we’ll see you from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, we’re offering our third installment of the Becoming American film and discussion series. Between Two Worlds will look at how immigrants react and adjust to living in a new country and culture and how they bridge the divide between traditions and values of their native countries and their new home. The film will be The New Americans, Episode 1. This event starts at 6:00. Registration and additional details are here.
We always look forward to welcoming you in any way that you want to enjoy our National Historic Landmark District. We’ve got a little something for everyone this week!
