We’re open for business!
Our preventative care and preservation shutdown ended on Friday and we’re open and ready to welcome you! We (finally!!) have heat in the Nathaniel Hawthorne Birthplace so it’s a warm and cozy place to learn about this literary legend when you visit us.
On Sunday, January 27, we’ll host our next Welcome Home Day for the town of Swampscott. Just bring along proof of residency and enjoy a tour on us!
We also have our Winter Family Deal going on through March 31. Up to two children/students are free with every paid adult/senior admission. Mention that you saw this deal on our blog to receive the special pricing.
We continue to offer free admission to federal employees and their families affected by the government shutdown. Please show valid federal i.d. and up to two adults and three children will be admitted for a free guided tour experience. Destination Salem has a number of resources offering discounts in Salem during this period. We continue to hope for the best for our colleagues that they will be able to return to the jobs and sites that benefit all Americans.
Be sure to check out our events calendar. We’ve been rapid-fire adding some awesome event for 2019. Our theme is POP! Goes The Gables. The newest updates include our Seven Lectures at Seven Gables series. From music to TV to emojis to baseball, we’re covering a lot of ground to complement our annual exhibit, which will open on April 5.
If you’re looking for a unique Valentine’s Day gift, we’ve brought back our popular commemorative brick program. The Gables Brick Project began in 2015 to repair and revitalize the brick walkway leading to the Visitors Center. Due to its popularity, we once again offer the opportunity for our community to commemorate a special date, honor a friend, or remember a passed loved one. Bricks must be ordered by February 28, 2019. Bricks will be installed by early summer.
Our talented staff always looks forward to welcoming you – cold or warm! See you soon!
